Tired day @ work
In the morning at 9am, went to the shipyard to look at the vessel. My supervisor was called in because there were problems with the valves. Air and water were pumped in a pressure of 10 bar. With the valves closed, the pressure should remain constant but it didnt. There was pressure loss and leakages could be seen around the valves enclosures.
Moving on, went to engine room of the vessel. We inspected the fuel oil tanks, which are beneath the engine room. My knee wasnt that good so I assisted from the top only. My supervisor, Abbas was really good man! Experience really matters! He inspected and discovered the centreline of the manhole was wrong. He asked the person in charge to bring the drawing, and true enough it was wrong! Haha. I believe errors do happen especially with vessel construction when there are so many parts involved. Just wonder how much the level of tolerance is allowed.
Then, I came back for lunch. One hour break. After that, went back to the office and was told that colleagues are going to do maintenance check on a vessel that just arrived yesterday at the yard. Initially I was very hesitant, because I just bathed and changed into my formal attire. However, I went under the advice of my brother. Again, I changed into my coverall. Together with 4 colleagues, we did the maintenance check on the vessel. It took us full 3 hours. In the end, I think I was the happier person, given the chance to witness all the equipments and machinery that I actually studied for the past few days. Hehe.
I don't know what's coming up tomorrow. Everyday is a challenge! Hehe. Gotta sleep soon. Nites everyone

First day at work @ Ajang Shipping
Well, today was my first day at work in Ajang Shipping Sdn. Bhd. I will be working as a temporary staff (intern) for 2 and half months in the technical department. Hehe, this will fulfil the remaining 300 hours of my practical work experience. Great stuff!
Oh my, I really enjoyed my first day at work. It's somehow special and unexpected, I would say. Haha. First day at work, already I visited the toilet for the ever so important business in one's life. I am sure you can figure it out. Thank goodness I didnt take too long or else what would my colleagues think of me? Haha. What would you think of me? Shermayne, I ate something wrong la, so it was automatic.
After that, I met up with the Admin manager. Was given a contract to sign in regards to the terms and conditions of being an employee at the company. What's important, all companies documents are strictly private and confidential. Not allowed to leak out anything. It's a great commitment man, hehe, I have no one to leak out also la...Apart from that, there are usual stuff like dress code, work ethics, and some regulations here and there regarding safety at work.
Moving on, he then gave me a short presentation of the company. What the company does, goals, assests and etc. To my shock, my ex-schoolmate Kenny Wong also started work today. He came in half way during the presentation, haha. I dont think he is in the technical department. Haha. Soon later, I was given a punch card. For what le? Haha, to record my time of coming to work and leaving. Haha. Tomorrow, my another ex-schoolmate, Lorna Munan will register my index finger print for access into the office. Hehe, that shows how high tech the security is eh...
Haha. There are so many employees in the company man. A girl by the name of Julie brought me around to introduce me to them. Gosh, I can only remember a few names. Hehe. After that, I was brought to my table. Hehe. With so many employees, I must say everyone is seated very closely to one another. Haha. It's good where everyone can liase without any barriers. I am sitting directly opposite to the technical supervisor, Mr. Abas. He is inside a room la. Oh my, he is going to see me everyday. Lol. Hehe, talking about supervisor, the other one is Mr. Liew. Haha.
The funny thing happened today was Mr Liew went to Brunei, hence his office was empty. My bro just came back from Batam, and he didnt have a place to sit coz he is going to resign by end of this month to pursue his career in Singapore. So, he was asked to sit in Mr. Liew's room. Haha. Everyone then called him Mr. Liu - sounds the same ma. Haha. Later in the afternoon, around 3pm, he came back and went to his room. You know what he said?He said," Wa, Lesley you want to take over my place ar?" Then he saw me, he then said, "wa, two brothers some more ar!" All the colleagues outside heard. Everyone had a good laugh. Haha
So far, I was asked a read a 100 page book that contains all the technical specifications of the new vessel, which the construction is currently in progress at Shin Yang. It took me so long to understand the terms man, so many which I have never come across before. Lucky for my bro, he told me most of them. Haha. So yeah, basically I did reading today only. I am supposed to do some readings now, but I am guilty of not blogging. So here I am. Lol.
Tomorrow will be a fun day. I get the chance to see the vessel with Mr. Abas. Cant wait actually. Colleagues have cautioned me about the dangers of visiting a construction shipyard. I need to be very cautious. I already have the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) - helmet, safety boots and red over all. Hehe. I will be the photographer also, was assigned the company's camera. Hehe.
So yeah, here is to TOMORROW!

Signs that you are back home @ Malaysia
1) The weather. Torrential downpours regardless of the time. Once it starts raining, you can forget about going out. Unlike Auckland, rain will stop somehow.
2) The food. Omg. Food is totally like heaven here. Nothing beats Malaysian food. My fav kolo mee, had it hours after I touched down at the airport. Hehe. Not only that, home-cooked food too. Yum Yum.
3) Humidity. Malaysia is famous for humidity la. Like no wind like that. Super hot!! Talking about hot. Oh my, I was eating in KK, it was so hot, then my buttock started sweating. In the end my pants got wet. Somemore I was wearing beige coloured pants. So you know la, people can see my wet pants. Darn, wished I had worn black that day. Lolz.
4) The people. Hehe, I get to speak a lot of Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin compared to Auckland where English was the main language. Feels so Malaysia, when you hear people speaking Manglish, Malaylish? (Malay + English).
5) Astro. Haha. I dreaded for this most!! Now, I am able to watch football matches already plus some other channels, unlike in Auckland with the pathetic national tv channels. I no money for SKY ma. Hehe.
6) Shopping. Wah, seriously, when I looked at the prices here, I started to divide it by 2.5. Hehe. As if I own a lot of NZ dollars. Things here are much cheaper, in fact way cheaper especially clothes. I doubt I'll be buying much since I have huge stock in Auckland already. I have been controlling well...hehe...I think the "lubang" between my fingers a lil bit smaller.
7) Air conditioning. Haha. You don't need air con in NZ. Here, you don't have one, you will feel "cremated" in the long run. Hmm, a lil bit harshly said. Haha. However, sometimes I feel too cold...haha
8) Maxis, not Vodafone. Haha. My Malaysia number is 012-379-3848. Not 021 k.
9) Friends. Friends that I only see once a year, some 2 years, some more than 2 years. It makes the meeting more valuable as we dont get to see each other so often. Hehe. Just find out more about their current situation. I believe most of them are already in their last years.
10) Family. Nothing beats the comfort and trust of the family. Hehe. Now my bro is back! Every member of the family is back home now. Hehe. Been treated like a King so far, with food cooked, clothes washed and so much more...hehehe....well, holiday is a well deserved break right??

Home Sweet Home
Flight back home was really good. A total of 12 hours plus transit at Brisbane, Australia. Royal Brunei is not that bad as I expected. Hehe. The food was good. just that they didnt have much choice, in fact no choice at all! I had to eat lamb on two separate occassions. But it was nice, so no complain.
Initially I thought no one was on the same flight as me, but it turned out that I was wrong. So many first year juniors were on the same flight as well. They were bound for KL, hence two transits. It must had been tiring for them. As for me, I was bound for Brunei, where my mum and sis came to pick me up. They were there earlier than my arrival time. Hehe. Seeing them made me feel happy. Not because I was afraid that they could have gotten lost then I'll be stranded at the airport, but the feeling of seeing my family again after one year. Gosh, I really miss them!!
So, three hours of journey before I reached home. Then, passed by the flyover that was officiated by the PM on the very same day. This flyover is a sign of more development to come in Miri. I am pretty sure about it. Hehe. Went home after that, gave all the presents I bought for my family. Was so happy to see their facial expressions especially my sis. I bought her three presents man. One IPOD classics that arrived 10 minutes before I left to catch the Airbus (thank God it got there on time), an Adidas jacket and a love shape necklace. I hope they are all happy with the presents I bought. Hehe. My bro has yet to see his yet. Lol.
The following day after I reached home (which is today), I went to Ajang Shipping to meet up with my supervisor, Mr Liew. He is really a nice guy. We got along well at the beginning, which is good. Hehe. I will only start working next Wednesday, a week from now. Hehe. Why? You might ask. I am going to KK tomorrow!! Hehe. Family trip. Will be there for five days until Monday. Hehe. What a long break!!
Can't wait to go ad. Will be leaving early in the morning, hence I gotta start packing now. So much packing in these few days. Hehe. Oh ya, regarding the meet up with the sports doctor, it was good. The doctor confirmed the meniscus tear on my left knee. Sigh. He also mentioned that the two ligaments are also quite weak. What hurts me most is I cant play for 6 months. No sports at all, just rehabiliation using the cycling machine. Guess these 3 months break from Auckland is good. Haha. I will be missing soccer games with my hometown friends...sigh..
Anyway, i gtg pack now. I wish everyone happy holiday and have a good break man, after such a long year at uni. You guys deserve a break. Take care till we meet again!

First meeting with a sports doctor
I then checked his credibility. Wow!!

Medical Director NZ Commonwealth Games Welfare 2006.

I am sure this experience is going to be worthwhile. I hope he can tell me more about my injury. Better if he can produce a scan on my knee so I can see what's going on there. I will be going back to Malaysia in a weeks time, hence not much time for actual physiotherapy and recovery here. Just hope there is miracle in this one week. Hehe.
So, I will be taking the Tamaki shuttle to the campus then walk over the clinic. I have to go earlier coz of the irregular bus time during examination period. I hope they don't check for my ID coz I am not allowed to take the shuttle. Hehe. Hopefully everything will be good and that I will come back to the city, without having to take the public buses. Expensive le!!
So, Dr Chris, I shall see you tomorrow!!

Happy Birthday - Pink "Maniac"
The bestest of all is her unique talent that was fully "utilised" in many UMSA events; Malaysian carnival (Fashion Show), the Ball and the visit to the Old Folks Home. Her skills in modelling and dancing had certainly made people awe. Being blessed with such gifts, she had certainly put it into good use.
1) Left KL for a year so that her feet will be on Auckland soil.

Sher Mayne says (1:43 PM):
