I just got myself into trouble with my new found hobby

Two days ago, i looked across a neighbouring apartment, and i saw this;

Cool isnt it? That triggered something in me. Maybe i should have one too? Looking at the size of it, i knew it was going to be a very expensive item. But what's wrong with having one? Hehehe.

Without wasting time, i went to find "my best friend", Trademe. I searched for boat models and found a few that were really nice. I checked the reserve and buy now price. I was, definitely was going to press either the buy now button or start bidding for it. It was over 100 nzd dollars. That price was really a big deal for a boat model. Then i thought to myself, i'd better wait and see how the bidding will go ( auction only ends in like 4 days).

At the mean time, i started checking other models like car, fighter plane, tank, and helicopter. I saw a few that were very cheap - 20 dollars reserve. Not bad eh!! Then only to realise made in china. It's not that i have something againt China, but all these models require very fine and precise details so that it will look real. So i ended looking at more expensive ones, eg . Tamiya models.

The name of Tamiya rings me back to childhood years. I still remember having a few Tamiya models. Those were really cheap ones. Like RM30 those days. The one that i liked most was liberty emperor. It was very common back then since it was the best looking one! With all the modifications (alloy rims, ultra-dash motor, sponge tyres, new frame - all just to make it light so it will be faster) that totalled up almost RM 1000, now i don't know where it ends up. Haha. Will find it when i go home this year..hehehe.

Ok back to me buying a model for my new found hobby. i browsed through a lot of models on trademe, even checked the prices over the internet - just in case if it's cheaper elsewhere, especially Malaysia. In the end, I found out that it is very expensive here!!! That didnt stop me from getting one from trademe due to urgent desire...lol.

Yeah, the browsing process never stopped till i saw these two models. One is a ferrari formula one car 2001 model and the other AH-64 apache (i admit i like helicopters)..

So, knowing that i should only own one of these two, guess which one did i buy? Hehe.
If you think that i bought the AH-64 apache, you are WRONG!!! hehehe. I decided to buy the F2001 car model, simply because it's pretty much a vintage model (6 years ago le). I checked prices elsewhere. It seemed that vintage models are more expensive. Rare collectible. I was so happy and bought it at a mere NZD 55 dollars.

In the auction, there were some extra parts that were given together with the model. I was wondering what are these parts for? Those cool wheels (as you can see in the picture below) are generic wheels and made to fit different types of car models. Little did i know that extra knowledge or expertise was required in this new hobby. I emailed the guy whom i bought the model kit from asking him about the knowledge that i need. To my shock, it wasnt just the knowledge, there are more parts that i need to make a complete model!! I was like, oh shit....i have to spend more money already and tamiya stuff is not cheap...then i thought to myself...whyla i so hiao, went to look at the neighbouring apartment...sigh.

The unassembled model

The extra parts - wheels

Since i have already bought it, then i thought to myself, this might be the only model that i will have...hehehe....just to console myself. Perhaps i dont really need to make a really nice and complete one...hehe...just for the fun of it la. So yeah, i am waiting for it to arrive now and have it assembled (cant wait actually - might buy some parts as well...lol). I'll post up pic of the assembled one...hehe..so wait ar..

p/s: Here are some of the pictures of a complete model that i found while browsing.

Keith - a professional photographer in the making

Here are some pictures that i stumbled upon when was looking at some photos in facebook. I came across Keith's album. Omg, i was simply awed by quality of the photos taken by him. Scroll down for some interesting work of his..

He stopped by a bridge, parked his car and snapped this. At Remuera road. I like to see the lights streching over a straight line. It's so cool. And to be able to take this photo without any blurry light - good stuff

This is simply beyond imagination. Like a scene from Lord of the Rings - beauty of nature. It reminds me on how God brings light into our world - there is hope behind every obstacle (the trees are obstacles yet the light shines through... : )

This is somewhere in Melbourne. A great photo taken in the dark. I believe he must have used tripod eh...hehe - nice one

Sun set marks the end of a day...

This is the best picture i have ever seen. It's just sun but it looks like a fallen sun - like some shooting star just landed on earth and gave some radiation which resulted in the orange light...haha...cool cool

Found all the pics above cool? Here is the guy behind all of it, with the camera of his...

Check it out..and you'll laugh in the end

Hi people, i copied this from a friend's blog. Read it!! It's super interesting. At least trust me for now k...

Here it goes...

Ever heard of the gal who wanted to be cremated with her handphone? This is a true story of a young college gal who past away last month in Shah Alam. Her name is Priya. She was hit by a lorry. I don't wanna mention the name of the college. She had a boyfriend by the name of Shankar. He stays in Johor. Both of them were deeply in love with each other. They used to spend hours talking on the phone. In fact, u can never see her without her handphone. She spends 3/4 of the day talking to Shankar. Priya's family knows about their close relationship. Shankar is very close with Priya's family. (Just imagine their love) .

She used to joke with her frens, "If I pass away please burn me with my handphone." She also repeated the same thing to her parents. When she passed away suddenly, the funeral procession could not lift her coffin. I was there. A lot of them tried to do so but still cant , everybody including me, had tried to carry the coffin, the result is still the same. Eventually, they called their neighbour, a "bomoh" from Thailand (Pak Darin), who was a fren of her father. He took a seat and started speaking to himself slowly. After a few minutes, he said "This girl misses something here". Then her frens told Darin bout her intentions to have her cremated with her phone. He then opened the coffin and place her phone and SIM card inside the casket. After that they tried to carry the coffin. It could be moved and they carried it into the van easily. All of us were shocked. (Can u feel the fear. i'm shaking at this moment!)

Priya's parents didnt inform Shankar that Priya had passed away. (Pity Shankar). After 2 weeks Shankar called Priya's mom.Shankar : "Atte, I'm coming home today. Cook something nice for me. Dont tell Priya that i'm coming home today. i wanna suprise her."Her mother replied: "You come home first, i wanna tell u something very important."When he got to Shah Alam, they told him the truth about Priya. Shankar thinks that they were playing a fool. He was laughing and said "Dont try to fool me. Tell Priya to come out. i have a gift for her. Please stop this nonsense". Then they show him the original death certificate to him. They gave him proof to make him believe. (Shankar started to sweat).

He said... "Its not true. We spoke yesterday. She still calls me."Shankar was shaking. Suddenly, shankar's phone rang. "See this is from Priya. See this..." he showed the phone to priya's family. All of them told him to answer. He talked using the loudspeaker mode. All of them heard his conversation loud and clear. No cross lines, no humming.

It is the actual voice of Priya & there is no way others could use her simcard since it was placed inside the coffin before cremation. They were so shocked and asked for Pak Darin's help again.

Pak Darin brought his master (Tok Chen) to solve this matter. He & Darin worked for 5 hours. Then they discovered one thing....

Netball - a game for the boys or the girls?

Netball, a non-contact sport created initially for girls, has seen significant growth over the past 2 years in UMSA. UMSA boys have started to "invade" the game, replacing girls. It's "expected" that the involvement of boys in the netball will increase exponentially over the years. Haha, it's just my theory, might not be true.

As a boy, i have to admit playing the girls' game is not a very fancy thing to do. Real boys will cackle if they know you play netball. I still remember asking jun bin to play netball. His response was netball is for girl la. Instead of taking it as a blow (to my ego), i laughed it off coz i really enjoy playing it. Haha

One thing i do realised is that when boys play netball with girls, they have a slight advantage over the girls. Boys are generally more athletic compared to girls. Height does play a big part as well especially in intercepting high balls. Despite my "tall-enough"height, i faced lots of problems when i was up against zaf. Hehe. She is taller than me....sigh. Where is my 1.80m, i am only 1.78... : (

The other thing is when you have basketballers playing netball. Even if they are new to netball, they can fit in instantly. They only have to know that they cant bounce nor dribble and take more than 1 step. When it comes to shooting, they are almost like God already, super sharp shooters man.

Despite all the advantages that the guys have over girls in the netball, netball still proves to be a very competitive and fair game. The girls can beat the guys too. It happened before in UMSA. That doesnt mean that the UMSA boys are not good, it's because the UMSA girls are very good. I have seen drastic improvements in all the girls. Pei Lyn can be considered as a boy now - fast reaction and good defence, just that she cannot shoot....lolz. Vanessa is the other, she has more agility now and she moves more often, and is a Ms Reliable with all her shots - 90% accuracy...respect.

Some of u might question why do i like to play netball so much. Hehe. My first answer is the girls. Lolz. Netball session is a definitely a way to get to know the girls better. Haha. Well, not for courting, but to know them better as friends. I got to know the seniors - Yin, Wei En and Zaf better through netball, with lots of conversation during and off the games. That applies to the others as well like Shermayne, Swan, and many more.

Second answer, netball is a strategy game. The game requires lots of teamwork and running. Also, it requires you to have man to man defence. These skills are pretty essential for every team sport - basketball, soccer, touch and etc. It's certainly a stepping stones for people who want to take on those higher level sports by starting with netball first. Having said that, netball is not one of the lower level sports, it's a high level one too just not that high ...hehehe...non contact sports ma = more safe....kekeke

Wa, i just realised i can get so crappy. Hehe. Anyway, i wish to see more boys playing netball the next time. The perception of it being girls' game is way too behind time. More and more boys have started to play the game, so what are you waiting for?? It's a good way to mix around and play socially...hehe.

p/s: thanks for all the organisers - Yin, Swan, Pei Lyn, keep it going!!

Here are some pictures for the last netball session for year 2007. More to come next year!!
In this pic alone, there are 6 boys and 3 girls - wa, girls only 1/2 ar? hehe

VanBoon so happy - got to play netball

That's really accurate - ball going into the hoop - and I, can only see

Typical Pei Lyn - pushed people then denied by saying "he fell by himself "

October 20 - the day of my first ever blog

I'm sitting down, browsing through friends' blogs. Then, i thought to myself, perhaps it's time to have a blog of my own where i can express my thoughts, feelings and the many wonderful things that are happening in my life.

Friends' blog have inspired me so much with their unique thoughts and the many unbelievable beautiful posts that reflect a person's life. Not only that, some use it as a diary to keep their lifetime memories. I believe i will use this blog more for a personal diary filled with recent happenings around me together with random thoughts that come along the way.

Having a blog is not the simpliest task in one's life. The need to constantly update could be a pain sometimes. Blog is commitment. Commitment that a blogger has to make. I cant promise much in regard to that commitment. Blogging should come when there is an urge to post something rather being forced to. I believe in that. It's better to have a genuine post rather a made up post.

Life is a surprise. During the course of your life, surprises come and go. Memories come and go. If only there is one place to keep all the pieces of these, it has to be the blog. A person's memory can die out with time, but when it's in the blog, it remains there. From time to time, you will tend to browse through your old post and start thinking how has your life been so far? Have you achieved your goals? Have you discovered the real you? Have you changed to be a better/mature person? Are you contented with your current life? ...the list can just go on with so many questions that a simple blog can answer.

I do hope that i can continue to blog from time to time. Once again, thank you my fellow bloggers out there that have inspired me to kick start with this little diary of mine.

Have a great day!
